How to get a vet prescription online UK - Fulfil prescriptions with Vets4u
Did you know you can order your pet’s prescription medication with us?
You may see the term ‘POM-V’ next to some medications. This stands for ‘prescription only medication – veterinarian’ and means you need a prescription to buy it. Did you know that you do not have to fulfil your prescription from your vet? In the same way you can fulfil your human prescription at any pharmacy, you can take your veterinary prescription to any qualified practice that meets your financial and personal needs.
Follow these 5 simple steps:

You’ll need a prescription to order any medication on our website with the warning: THIS MEDICINE REQUIRES A PRESCRIPTION, or you may be asked to fill in a quick questionnaire. This helps to regulate stronger medications and keep you and your pets safe. If you need to fulfil a repeat prescription, this can be arranged on our system to save you the time and hassle of repeatedly going back to the vet.
Remember, we are anRCVS certified veterinary practice, so all our medications and dispensers are checked regularly to ensure the highest quality. Under the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013, a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) or veterinary surgeon can authorise your prescription and dispense the medicine for your pet. There are just a few things you’ll need to check:
A written prescription for a POM-V is only valid for a maximum of 6 months, so you should check your prescription is in date.
If your prescription applies to schedule 2 or 3 controlled drugs, it is only valid for 28 days.
Our vet can easily check your prescription once you join us on Digitail, and if everything checks out, we can dispense the medications directly to you. We will make sure you feel confident that your pet is receiving the best care possible, and you can come back to us whenever you need a repeat prescription or further advice.
If you have any more questions, check out ourprescriptions page on our website or email us at mail@vets4u.uk.
