What is a Veterinary Prescription (POM-V)?

Veterinary prescriptions are often labeled POM-V (Prescription Only Medication – Veterinarian). This means you must obtain a valid written prescription from your vet before ordering.

Tip: You're legally entitled to request a prescription from your vet at any time—usually during or after your appointment.

How to Order Prescription Pet Medication Online

Ordering with Vets4u is simple and secure. Just follow these 3 steps:

1. Obtain a Prescription

Ask your vet for a written prescription for your pet’s medication. They are required to provide one upon request.

2. Create Your Order Online

Browse our online shop and add the prescribed medication to your basket. You’ll need to create an account and complete your order as usual.

3. Upload or Send Us Your Prescription

You can submit your prescription in one of the following ways:

• Upload at Checkout: The easiest and fastest option—upload your prescription file when placing your order.
• Email Later: If you don’t have the file ready at checkout, you can email it tomail@vets4u.uk, quoting your order number.

Note: We strongly recommend uploading your prescription during checkout to avoid delays. We may be phasing out retrospective submissions in the future for safety and efficiency.

Repeat Prescriptions Made Simple

We securely store your valid repeat prescriptions so you don’t need to keep requesting them. Plus, we’ll send you timely reminders so you never run out of essential meds.

Prescription Validity – What You Need to Know

• Standard prescriptions (POM-V) are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
• Controlled medications (Schedules 2 & 3) are only valid for 28 days.
