Is Apoquel safe for dogs?

It is safe if the guidelines on the data sheet are followed, your vet prescribes it having assessed your pet, and your dog is over 12 months of age, has no serious infections, no signs of immunosuppression such as hyperadrenocorticism, and does not already have cancer of any type. It should not be used for breeding male dogs, or pregnant or lactating bitches. Side effects have been noted such as lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea and a reduced appetite. Some animals can also be allergic to any drug. It can increase the susceptibility to infection and exacerbate cancer already present. Periodic monitoring of blood counts and biochemistry should be performed.
