It is a prescription medication licensed for use in dogs to improve dullness, lethargy and demeanour. It is particularly useful in older dogs where it may help exercise tolerance and willingness to exercise.

How does Vivitonin work?

It increases blood flow to the heart and skeletal muscles as well as increasing the oxygen flow to the brain and therefore its oxygen supply. It is also a bronchodilator and improves the flow of red blood cells. It reduces the load on the heart.

How should I administer Vivitonin to my pet?

It can be administered directly onto the back of the tongue or mixed in a small ball of food then wait 30 minutes before feeding more food.

What is the correct dosage of Vivitonin for my animal's weight and species?

The correct dose for your animal is as prescribed by your vet. Your vet will follow the data sheet for the medication prescribed and for some medications will adjust this taking into consideration your animal's medical history.

What are the side-effects of Vivitonin?

Vomiting has been observed on rare occasions, particularly at the start of medication.
In rare cases allergic reactions may occur such as skin swellings in which case the treatment needs to stop. Rare is more than 1 but less than 10 cases in 10,000 animals.

Is Vivitonin suitable for dogs with dementia or vestibular disease?

It helps to improve dullness, lethargy and demeanour. It is particularly useful in older dogs where it may help exercise tolerance and willingness to exercise so may be advised to help in managing these medical cases. Your vet, who knows your pet, will assess how useful it may be.

How long does Vivitonin take to work?

It is absorbed rapidly so effects may be seen on the first day of administration.

Yes, they both contain Propentofylline.
