It is a monoclonal antibody containing Frunevetmab which targets Nerve growth Factor.

How should I administer Solensia to my pet?

It is given by subcutaneous injection monthly usually by your vet unless they have trained you to inject safely.

What is the correct dosage of Solensia for my animal's weight and species?

The correct dose for your animal is as prescribed by your vet. Your vet will follow the data sheet for the medication prescribed and for some medications will adjust this taking into consideration your animal's medical history.

How long should I continue with Solensia for?

You should continue for the length of time your vet prescribed the medication for. Please read the label your vet has attached to the medication. If you suspect that your pet may be having an adverse reaction to a medication, please contact your vet for advice on continuing the medication.

What are the side-effects of Solensia?

Common

(1 to 10 animals / 100 animals treated): localised skin reaction (e.g. alopecia, dermatitis, pruritus).

 Rare

(1 to 10 animals / 10,000 animals treated): injection site reaction (e.g. pain and alopecia)1

skin disorders (e.g. skin scab, skin sore).

 Very rare

(<1 animal / 10,000 animals treated, including isolated reports): Anaphylaxis-an allergic reaction.

Is Solensia same as Librela?

It works in the same way but is a differently named monoclonal antibody

Can Solensia cause seizures and/or kidney failure?

The safety and efficacy of this product has not been investigated in cats with kidney disease IRIS stages 3 and 4. Use of the product in such cases should be based on a benefit-risk assessment performed by the responsible veterinarian.
Seizures are not reported in the data sheet on the date of writing this (12/04/2025).
