How does Rimadyl work?
It is an anti-inflammatory pain killer. As with most NSAIDs, Carprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes (selectively inhibiting COX-2 over COX-1), thereby inhibiting the release of several prostaglandins involved in chronic inflammatory reactions that are thought to be present in canine OA.
How should I administer Rimadyl to my pet?
It should be given orally, by mouth with or after food. The tablets are palatable.
What is the correct dosage of Rimadyl for my animal's weight and species?
The correct dose for your animal is as prescribed by your vet. Your vet will follow the data sheet for the medication prescribed and for some medications will adjust this taking into consideration your animal's medical history.
How long should I continue with Rimadyl for?

What are the side-effects of Rimadyl?
Typical undesirable effects associated with NSAIDs, such as vomiting, soft faeces/diarrhoea, faecal occult blood, loss of appetite and lethargy have been reported. These adverse reactions generally occur within the first treatment week and are in most cases transient and disappear following termination of the treatment but in very rare cases may be serious or fatal. If adverse reactions occur, use of the product should be stopped and the advice of a veterinarian should be sought.

Lethargy has been reported as an adverse reaction.
