What is Metacam for dogs?
Metacam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkiller, often described as an NSAID.
How much Metacam should a dog have?
The dose is weight-dependent but is also influenced by any other problems your dog may have, so your veterinary surgeon will calculate a dose for you.
Does Metacam make your dog sleepy?
Metacam should not make your dog sleepy. If your dog is sleepy, it may be due to the underlying reason it has been prescribed.
Is Metacam the same as Calpol?
It is similar in that Metacam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkiller, but they contain different medicines. Calpol contains Paracetamol whereas Metacam contains Meloxicam.
How long will Metacam last?
One dose lasts around 24 hours.

No, this is not safe to do.
How long does Metacam stay in my dog's system?
It is effective for 24 hours, but then is gradually removed from the body. It has a half- life of 24 hours in dogs and 15 hours in cats, so it gradually is removed from the body over time.
