Libromide is an anti-epileptic agent for use alongside phenobarbital in the control of epilepsy in dogs, where phenobarbitol alone is not effective enough.
How does Libromide work?
Libromide contains potassium bromide. Potassium bromide is a halide anticonvulsant which raises the seizure threshold and prevents the spread of epileptic discharges. It also potentiates the effect of GABA which results in a synergistic activity of bromide with other drugs that have GABA-ergic activity.
How long does Libromide take to work?
It can take several weeks or months to achieve steady-state serum concentrations so it can vary how long it will take for you to notice an improvement.

This medication is in tablet form, so orally, by mouth, and with food. Do not suddenly stop it.
