Can Cardalis be used for long term use?
Yes, it is for long term use when it is helping your pet clinically, sometimes other drugs may be added or your pet may be switched to a different drug depending on progression of symptoms.
Is Cardalis the same as Vetmedin?
No, it contains different drugs.
Can Cardalis and Vetmedin be given to dogs?
Your vet will prescribe medications appropriate for your own pet’s condition. It can be given in combination depending on your pet’s exact diagnosis if your vet wishes to prescribe both.
Can Cardalis be given to cats?
It has a license for dogs only. There are other prescription medications that can be used for cats.
Are there any side effects of Cardalis for dogs?
Vomiting, diarrhoea, pruritus, lethargy, anorexia, ataxia, incoordination or signs of fatigue have been reported very rarely.
In dogs with chronic kidney disease, benazepril may increase plasma creatinine concentrations at the start of therapy very rarely. A moderate increase in plasma creatinine concentrations following administration of ACE inhibitors is compatible with the reduction in glomerular hypertension induced by these agents and is therefore not necessarily a reason to stop therapy in the absence of other signs.
How quickly does Cardalis take to work?
A steady state of the medication in the body is achieved after 2 days.
