What is Bravecto? 
Bravecto is an anti-parasiticide, containing Fluralaner, which comes as chewable tablets for dogs, and a spot-on solution for dogs and cats.  

 

Bravecto Plus is a spot-on solution for cats and also contains Moxidectin. 

 
Bravecto is a prescription medication and needs to be prescribed by a veterinary surgeon. 

 
For dogs the chewable tablets treat fleas for 12 weeks, ticks for 8-12 weeks depending on species of tick, Demodex mites, Sarcoptic Mange mites. It reduces the risk of Babesia infection by killing the ticks which transmit it before disease transmission occurs. 
 

For dogs the topical spot-on solution treats fleas and ticks for 12 weeks, Demodex mites and Sarcoptic Mange mites. 

 
For cats the spot-on solution treats fleas and ticks for 12 weeks. It treats ear mites. 

 

What does Bravecto treat? 
For cats Bravecto Plus spot-on solution treats ticks, fleas, ear mites, roundworm, hookworm and heartworm (in a cat previously tested negative for heart worm) if used every 12 weeks. 

 

For dogs the chewable tablets treat fleas (depending on species of tick), Demodex mites, Sarcoptic Mange mites and it reduces the risk of Babesia infection. 

 

Can I get Bravecto without vet prescription in UK? 
No. 

 

How long do Bravecto side effects last in dogs? 
Most are usually self-limiting and of short duration.

Is Bravecto safe? 
It is safe at the dose prescribed by your vet. Avoid your pet licking the solution if applied topically. Side effects can occur with any drug so if you have concerns please speak to your veterinary surgeon. 

 

How does Bravecto work? 
The product is absorbed into the blood stream and tissues. Fleas and ticks need to feed on the host for the drug to work. 

 

How long does Bravecto take to work? 
It takes 48 hours to start working. 

 

Why are vets prescribing Bravecto for dogs in the UK only? 
They need to have the animal under their care to prescribe it.
